Hataałii is a Navajo artist whose multifaceted creative practice spans visual art, music, and poetry. This special program brings together both a solo exhibition and a live musical performance, offering an immersive look into a distinctive, emerging, artistic voice.   

His painting exhibition, Singe the Head, explores the complexities of reservation life alongside the disorienting experience of urban existence. Through oneiric, emotionally resonant imagery, Hataałii confronts themes of cultural absence and displacement, drawing on Navajo knowledge and memory to rekindle a sense of continuity within unfamiliar landscapes. 

In addition to his visual work, Hataałii is an accomplished singer-songwriter. He will present a live solo performance featuring selections from his growing catalog of songs, which weave together stories of life, identity, and community.
