University Gallery | Fulton Hall
Opening Reception & In-gallery Artist Talk: Thursday, November 5, 5:30-7:30pm
Slow Drift is a long-term photography project that explores the gradual, often invisible, relationships between climate change, identity, and colonial legacies by focusing on communities and landscapes that connect to former tobacco economies and plantations in Maryland. Working with color analog and experimental processes, the project documents former plantations, historic black communities and surrounding landscapes and towns. Slow Drift conveys time passing as landscapes, the built environment, vegetation, objects and personal stories that connect to these sites across generations, remain, resist and evolve.
